Where can arterial ulcerations often be found on the body?

Arterial ulcerations are typically found in areas that are most affected by inadequate blood supply due to peripheral artery disease. The tibial area and toes are common sites for these ulcerations because the tissues in these areas receive the least blood flow when there is arterial insufficiency.

These ulcers often develop in locations where there is high pressure from footwear or trauma, in combination with reduced oxygen and nutrient delivery to the tissue due to compromised arterial circulation. The toes are particularly vulnerable because they are distal to the arterial supply, making them the first area to suffer from ischemia and ulceration when blood flow is limited.

In contrast, other areas mentioned, such as the medial malleolus, fingers and hands, and upper arms, are more commonly associated with different types of ulcers, such as venous ulcers or pressure ulcers, rather than ischemic ulcers resulting from arterial insufficiency.
